Trekkers are increasing in numbers these days in Karnataka. As there are many trekking trails open for tourism now, so does the number of enthusiasts has also increased. If you plan a mesmerizing trip to Malnad, adding the Kyathanamakki trek can be a lot of fun. The location of the Kyathanamakki hills is ideal for those visiting Horanadu and Chikmagalur.

The Start:

We were in fact not staying at Chikmagalur but were at Thirthahalli. Our starting point for the journey was from the homestay we stayed near Thirthahalli in an estate location. We started early in the morning around 7:30 with our group in our individual vehicles. We had plans to start earlier than this but our previous day’s fun at the homestay made us rest for more time in the morning. We had our sumptuous breakfast at Travel Malnad homestay. The journey will always be good and the day will be calm if we start off the day with a fresh thought in the morning. We could all get ready before 7:30 AM and were heading towards Kyathanamakki.

The Journey:

You will be taking Thirthahalli to Koppa and then deviation in Jayapura towards Kyathanammki if you are traveling from Thirthahalli. We were all using GPS route maps and were not much worried about asking for road en route. The road trip to Kyathanamakki was all fun because of the green pastures around us throughout the journey. We all were singing and discussed many things while on the way to the trekking point.

The Trekking:

Once we reached the foothills of Kyathanamakki we were all the more thrilled even before scaling the mountains. We took many pictures from the foothills before embarking on our trekking trail. There is the proper road up to certain heights and after that, you need to keep trekking the hills. The uphill was too good that all our group members thoroughly enjoyed it. One thing we noticed in common is that the trekking was not hectic because of the cool breeze and beautiful nature around us. We have been trekking many mountains in Karnataka and this one is very special because of its Shola Forest and it is the same as Kudhremukh peak.

The Moutain Peak:

There is a lot of philosophical touch to trekking. It is not just about scaling the mountain but once you reach the peak of the mountain you feel get a different perspective on the world. We human beings will look irrelevant to nature before the magnanimity of nature. We can learn many things from nature and also incorporate them into our lives. The very important thing to learn from nature is the inclusiveness in treating all species as one.

There is no other activity than nice trekking which gives us many inputs about how we should treat nature. Nature is already generous in treating us in spite of all our misadventures and destruction in the name of development. We took this trek not just as an expedition but as a study tour with lots of deep learning in the direction of conserving nature. You can also plan your Kyathanamakki trekking by staying at our Malnad Homestays in Karnataka.
